By Cindy Navarro (Cullman, AL) - See all my reviewsThis review is from: Pages of Deception (Paperback)
Pages of Deception Breeze Thompson is a Christian author who has become very successful with her career. An earlier relationship gone bad had caused her to focus on writing, but now she is wishing she had not completely closed off her he...art. Her longing for a family is now interfering with her desire to write. A chance encounter with Sean Maverick further adds to her current dissatisfaction with the status quo. Sean seems to be the perfect man, but troubling dreams are causing her to doubt. Is God trying to warn her that Sean is not who he claims? Was their meeting really by chance or was it part of a scheme.

Author T L Moore gathers a cast of characters that the reader wants to know and grows to care about as their lives are interwoven in this tale of deception and intrigue. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and hope to read more by this author.

Pages of Deception

I have been an avid reader since I was old enough to pick up a book & turn the pages. I am legally blind from an accident and Pages of Deception is the first book I have read in a long time. I find Author T L Moore's style of writing and character development always leaves me feeling like I need to read just a little bit more before I fall into a state of catatonic sleep in front of my monitor.
I find myself hurrying with my first cup of coffee in the morning to get to my computer and read more before I get disrupted by the mundane activities of day to day living. I believe the Christian heart of the author is very apparent and delightful. Breeze Thompson is the main character and the reader can connect with her trials, her emotions and her faith.
I like the combination of drama, romance, faith and intrigue in the book and enjoyed the way the author brought every thing together. A book well written Author T L Moore! I am looking forward to reading more of your books. God bless you as you pursue your gift of writing.

  • Actually, this was one book I could hardly put down. Although, in the beginning, I thought this might be a Christian love story, but with all the ups and downs Breeze Thompson faced, I had my doubts. At such a young age, I could not possibly see how this young author, could stay true to her faith after all the mental abuse she was receiving from the one she thought might have been brought into her life, by God. The plot thickens as she begins to find out who this man is NOT! By reading this book you will see how its author, TL Moore, brings this story into line with God's Word, with an amazing conclusion.

The teacher1234: TL Moore shows her great compassion for writing in her book PAGES OF DECEPTION. Once I really got into the book around the second chapter, I thought, "Wait a minute, Something is not right here." Her ongoing dreams, while she was asleep, actually because a demon to her. She was letting it devour her love for writing. The story is about a female author who thought she knew what she wanted in her life. Then she met this man and then she KNEW what she wanted. But yet, he became someone she did not even WANT to know. Her writing techniques became familiar mundane sentences. However, Moore did not leave this author in limbo. She brought this author back into reality through a series of trial and error. I really could not put the book down. It is an excellent book!

How the name "Ed" came about.
When I first thought of the book about an angel that helps children here on earth, I didn't have a name for this special angel. I asked God what shall I name this angel and instantly the name Ed came to my mind. I didn't understand why this name God had chosen until years later. My aunt called me and asked me why I chose the name Ed? I told her it was God. Well, that is when my aunt totally surprised me that the name Ed was in the bible. I thought maybe she read it wrong, so I quickly got my bible out. My eyes must of bugged out of my head like a cartoon character when I found it myself. The name "Ed" is in the bible and this was a confirmation to me that God was in fact the one who placed the idea for the books upon my heart for children of all ages. "Ed" means to witness..
Joshua 22:34 (King James Version)And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.

                      Book reviews:
R.E. Webb, age 11 : Ed On My Shoulder is the best book I have read in my whole life. My favorite part was when Ed and Eric became good friends because Eric felt all alone and had no one to play with. The sweetest part in the whole book was when Ed had to leave to go help other kids and Eric looked at Ed and said, "You will always be my angel on my shoulder, Ed." Thank you T.L. Moore for letting me read and review your book. Also to T.L. Ball; the pictures you drew were great. I give Ed On My Shoulder 5 spiders.

Ed On My Shoulder is the story of Eric, a young boy who is ofter shunned bacause of physical limitations he has had since birth. When Eric's father passes away and he and his mother are forced to move to a new city, Eric feels alone and angry at the world and at God. One day Eric meets Ed, an angel sent from heaven to help Eric through this difficult time in his life and to let him know that he is never alone. As Eric and Ed become close friends, Eric learns to love himself and to let others love him as well, and he finds real friends along the way.
When my 11 year old asked to review this book I was a little skeptical and wondered how well she would like Ed On My Shoulder, as she is an avid reader of other genres. When she emerged from her bedroom, after devouring the book in one sitting, with tears in her eyes and a smile on her face, I knew that Ed On My Shoulder had been a winner. I highly recommend this sweet children's book not only to children, but to parents as well. T.L.Moore has created, a wonderful and enjoyable story for children, and an excellent teaching tool for life. Anyone, no matter their age, can learn empathy and compassion from this delightful little book.

                      Dear Terri,
I read your info page, and was surprised for the heat you have taken for your children's series. I am the Wednesday night children's Bible teacher at our church where we bus in about 75 kids each night. These are children in homes where neither parent or guardians attend church. I have been heartbroken over the situations these kids face at home. I think those that would object to children's books dealing with these issues, have possibly never worked with children being raised in today's world. I would encourage you to stay the course, for it's not a book on the line- it's a child life. God rarely calls us to do what everybody else is already doing. Stay true to the vision, and God will do His part to bring it to pass. Praying for you,
                      Used by Grace,
                      Jennifer

"Ed on My Shoulder" by author T. L. Moore
I Highly Recommend "Ed on My Shoulder"
I really liked the book--"Ed on My Shoulder"--because it made me think of God differently. It talked about how God doesn’t care what we look like on the outside, and how nobody is perfect and the only one who is--is God. Someone who likes reading religious books, this is the one! I would say that the age group would be about ages 7 to 14.

“Ed on My Shoulder” is a story about a 12 year old boy named Eric. Eric just moved to another city, he is new in town, he doesn’t have any friends, and to make matters worse he was born with a bowel problem. And, because of that, kids pick on him and even call him names like “poop boy.” Eric has to overcome the town bully named Kenny, finding and losing his dog, and overcoming the death of his father. Then came along an answer to his prayers--Ed. Eric will soon be introduced to a little bit of heaven.

My favorite part was when Ed and Eric went to the amusement park and while they were there, they met Lily. She told Eric that “God and Jesus loves you; Walk by faith, not by sight.”

I would highly recommend this book, “Ed on My Shoulder” by author T.L. Moore.

Gerry Shevlin Hi Terri. I do hope you feel better soon. I received your book in the post yesterday morning from Amazon. I have a cold at the moment so I am a bit under the weather. I took myself off to be at 9.30pm last night and read your book cover to cover. When I finished wiping a few tears away I was smiling and forgetting all about my silly little ... See Morecold. It was funny, eye opening, and gave me a few shivers down my spine. I thought it would make a great short film. It reminded me of some of Michael Landau's work. I am going to start reading it to three of my grandsons tomorrow as they are still on half-term. I will let you know what they say. I wish you better Terri. Lots of love Gerry. xx

It will take you places and times when we have felt alone in our lives only to find out that God never forsakes us and send us angels like Ed to show us His love. The author did an amazing job as we can truly feel God's love for us through her writing. Can't wait for part two!

I am a Christian woman, mom , and grandma. I thought this book was terrific and read it the same day I bought it. I have given it to my 14yr old granddaughter to read and would not hesitate to give it to the younger ones. It tells a very encouraging tale of a young boy with problems and his friend Ed, who helps him out. TL doesn't hesitate to give the credit to God & Jesus both. Way to go and I can't wait for another one.

I have never been a 'critic' nor could I find any fault in a work that shares the love of God and teaches the lessons of friendships and understanding as does this book by T.L. Moore. Ed is a true hero and I look forward to reading the entire collection.

                      Ed on my shoulder *****

I just received my copies of "Ed on my shoulder" from Amazon.com. This book is in the children's book section, and understandably so; however, after reading it myself, it is a wonderful book for people of all ages to read!

I must confess I've not completed reading it yet, but I can hardly put it down. When you begin reading the first chapter, you are immediately transported back to your childhood and you can so relate to Eric and what he is going through. Even if you have not had those same experiences, you can empathize and feel what he is feeling. In one way or another, we have all been there. So many of the things I have read thus far have touched my heart profoundly, and this is a book that I would wish for everyone to read. I purchased three copies for my grandchildren. I wanted to read the book myself so that I can discuss it with them after they have finished reading it. It does my heart good to know the experiences they will have, reading about Ed and getting to know him, and the wonderful message it is going to imprint on their hearts.

My prayer is that everyone that has a child, grandchild, niece or nephew will purchase this book and give it to them. They could not read anything more positive, uplifting, and encouraging to their young, impressionable spirits. As someone blessed to be acquainted with her, I know that the author, T.L. Moore, is desperately trying to help children the world over by writing the "Ed on my shoulder" series; this is just the first of what will hopefully be many adventures with Ed alongside. I pray everyone will order a book and allow this "ministry" to grow and bless the children for whom it was written! Vicki Helm, Taylorsville, KY

This book is for any child that feels lonely and doesn't feel like they can have any friends. Ed is inspiring and shows you that you are not alone and that God is watching and taking care of you. The author does an excellent job in telling the story and showing us that angels do take care of us.
